The Isca School of English is a small, friendly, independent school located in the vibrant city of Exeter. We pride ourselves on providing a warm, welcoming atmosphere, high-quality teaching, and exceptional support for our teenage learners.
Founded in 1966, Isca is family-owned and managed by Sarah Tomlinson. With a deep passion for education and years of experience in English language teaching, Sarah is dedicated to creating an enriching learning environment that fosters personal growth and cultural exchange among students. Her commitment to student well-being and success is central to everything we do at Isca.
We focus on delivering high-quality teacher and excellent student care. Our classes are interactive and engaging, designed to keep teenagers motivated and make them confident in English as they progress. The social programme is a vital part of the Isca experience, offering a wide range of supervised activities that help students make friends, immerse themselves in English culture, and practice their language skills in real-life situations.
Students stay with a local host family, which provides an authentic experience of English life and daily opportunities to use their language skills. We arrange accommodation with great care, conducting police checks and gathering personal references after thorough house visits to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for our young learners.
Our summer school offers two exciting options: students can choose to take General English with 18 hours of tuition each week, complemented by an engaging activity and excursion programme, or they can enrol on our Cambridge B2 First or C1 Advanced course, where they receive dedicated preparation and take the exam at the end of their studies.
Throughout the year, we also provide custom group programmes for school groups, tailoring the English learning experience to meet the specific needs of each group.
